What Motherhood Revealed About Rest

Search

Can I tell you something wild?

For all my years of ministry, study, and teaching about rest…
Motherhood is still teaching me more. [And all the parents smile.]

There’s something about holding my baby girl—this beautiful gift from God—
and realizing that rest isn’t just about slowing down.
It’s about being present. YAAAAASSSSSS!

I used to think rest meant putting everything down.
Now I know it also means picking up what matters most with love and intention.

Sometimes it’s stillness.
Sometimes it’s play.
Sometimes it’s choosing not to fold the laundry so I can sit in the sunlight while my baby naps on my chest.

Every season shifts your rhythm.
And that’s the thing I want you to hear loud and clear:

Your rest will look different in different seasons—and that’s okay.
You don’t need to fight to get back to an old version of peace.
You get to discover what it looks like now.

Soon, I’ll be sharing a tool to help you do just that.
But for today—just know this:

You deserve rest.
Not when things calm down.
Not when everything’s perfect.
But right now.

In breath, baby giggles, and grace,
