Sabbath Should Be Easy

I’ve been sitting with this simple but profound truth: Sabbath was never meant to be a burden.

Jesus said it best in Mark 2:27: “The Sabbath was made for humankind, not humankind for the Sabbath.”

Sabbath is God’s gift to us—designed to restore, nurture, and bless us. It’s here to fill you up, not to become another overwhelming task on your already-too-long to-do list.

I know rest is having its moment on social media right now. So many people are talking about rest (and I love seeing that!), but let’s be careful not to turn Sabbath into something that feels heavy, hard, or out of reach. Because it’s not. It was made with you in mind.

Yes, you—brilliant, busy, ambitious soul that you are!

You don’t have to earn Sabbath.
You don’t have to master it before you receive it.
You don’t need the perfect schedule, a spotless house, or the “right” candles and playlist.

You just need to say yes to the gift.

If you’re wondering where to start, here are simple ways to say yes to Sabbath this week:

  1. Pick a time—even if it’s just a few hours.
  2. Set a boundary—decide what you’ll pause (work, chores, etc.).
  3. Choose one thing that restores you—a walk, prayer, or simply sitting still.

That’s it. No perfection required—just a small, intentional step toward rest.

So let’s stop striving—even in our resting.
Sabbath is sacred ease.

Let’s lean into that.

With love and grace,
Rev. Arionne
